ACTIVATION & ANIMATION ON THE GRAND CANAL
INTRODUCTION
Waterways Ireland and Dublin City Council (The Commissioners) are
working in partnership to investigate how to activate and animate an
area of the Grand Canal and Grand Canal Circular Line; Portobello ?
Kylemore Road. It is an area which has very limited on-water activity,
in spite of having one of the longest stretches in the city centre
with no locks to navigate (Portobello ? Suir Road) and in some areas
has some anti-social and negative behaviour associated with it. The
document (attached below) is a request for suitable consultants, or a
consortia to conduct a preliminary scoping and feasibility analysis
into activation and animation measures Waterways Ireland and Dublin
City Council can put in place to address these deficits.
